How To Get To Capri
Getting to Capri from Sorrento is straightforward and stress-free. Ferries and hydrofoils depart regularly from Marina Piccola, Sorrento’s main port. Here’s how to navigate your journey:
- Purchase Tickets in Advance: During peak season (May to September), ferries can fill up quickly. We recommend booking your tickets a day in advance either online or at the ticket office at the port. This ensures you have a seat and avoids last-minute stress.
- Ferry Companies: Alilauro, Caremar, and SNAV operate frequent services. Check the schedule and prices on their websites to choose the best option for you. A one-way ticket typically costs between €20-€25 per person.
- Boarding the Ferry: Arrive at the port at least 30 minutes before departure. This gives you enough time to find your boarding gate, grab a coffee, and settle in for the 20-30-minute journey across the Tyrrhenian Sea.
- Arrival at Marina Grande: Once you arrive at Marina Grande, Capri’s main port, you’ll disembark the ferry and enter the bustling harbor area. Marina Grande is the island’s primary transportation hub, with various services (Blue Grato and other Boat Tours), shops, and cafes.

Start By Catching the Bus to Anacapri
- Locate the Bus Station: After disembarking, follow the signs or ask for directions to the bus station, which is to your immediate right as you exit the marina. It’s just a short walk from the ferry dock, near the ticket office and tourist information center.
- Buy Your Bus Ticket: You can purchase tickets from the ticket booth. Tickets cost around €4,80 PP each way. You can also buy a day pass if you plan to use public transportation multiple times during your visit.
